J. Jay Peay

Jay has been involved in the financial services industry since 1984. He spent 28 years with a large local accounting firm where he was an owner for more than 23 years. While there, he led the effort to establish and manage the Clinton, SC office where he practiced for over 30 years, until it joined with Savant Tax & Consulting in 2023. Jay’s primary focus is in business advisory services, chief financial officer services, estate, trust and tax planning, and tax preparation services for individuals and businesses.  He has extensive accounting, business consulting, and tax experience in the areas of construction, automobile dealerships, agriculture-related businesses, professional service groups, and owner-operated businesses.

Jay earned a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), was awarded the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) credential by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), is a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), and is a member of the AICPA. Jay owned SwaimBrown Wealth Management, LLC, until it joined with Savant in 2023.

Jay serves on the board of AgSouth Farm Credit, ACA. He is an active member of Broad Street United Methodist Church where he serves on the Finance Committee, the Endowment and Planned Giving Committee, and Church Trustees. Jay is a founding board member of the Laurens County Cancer Association and serves as its finance chair.

Jay is a loyal Wofford College fan and tries to attend most home football and basketball games. He has run two marathons, but he is older and wiser now and won’t do that again. Jay and his wife Donna have a son who is also a CPA.
