Joel has been involved in the financial services industry since 2004, after beginning his career in corporate finance with a Fortune 500 company. Prior to joining Savant, he worked at a Registered Investment Advisor firm in Rockville, MD, and then served as vice president of The Corcoran Group in Bethesda from 2008 until its acquisition by Savant in 2015.
Joel graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in business management (finance) from Brigham Young University and was a National Merit and Ezra Taft Benson Scholar there. He earned his Certificate in Financial Planning from Georgetown University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). He is a member of the Financial Planning Association, has been quoted in Forbes, US News & World Report, and Washingtonian magazine, and has been a repeat guest on Federal News Radio.
Joel and his wife Kristin have four children. He enjoys the outdoors in all forms and is a student of American History, particularly the Civil War period. He adores Italian culture and cuisine and speaks the language fluently. He enjoys racquetball, hiking, and cycling.
