Mike brings to Savant over 25 years’ experience as our attorney concentrating on complex estate and business succession planning, estate tax avoidance, charitable planning, and advising clients regarding all types of trusts and estate administration. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and completed a joint degree program at Marquette University, attaining a Juris Doctorate degree from Marquette School of Law and a master’s degree in business administration from Marquette Graduate School of Business.
Mike is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, the Wisconsin Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Winnebago County Bar Association, and the Estate Section and the Business and Tax Section of the Winnebago County Bar Association. He has served several terms as a member of the Trusts and Estates Section Council of the Illinois State Bar Association, a group responsible for improving current Illinois laws and coordinating new legislation governing the Illinois Probate Act, the Illinois Trust and Trustees Act, the Illinois Estate Tax structure, and similar estate legislation.
In 2008 Mike was awarded the Order of St. Gregory by the Holy See for his service to the Catholic Diocese of Rockford, for which he has served multiple terms on the Bishop’s Finance Council and various ad hoc committees associated with Diocesan Finance and Audit. In 2015 he was named one of the “20 People You Should Know” by the Rockford Chamber.
Mike enjoys coaching his children in their extracurricular activities and spending time doing just about anything outdoors in northern Wisconsin with his family.
